Witkin Center Receives Major Gift from The Ahmanson Foundation

ALA is very proud to announce a generous $200,000 gift from the Ahmanson Foundation in support of the Janet L. Witkin Center.

The award winning Janet L. Witkin Center, to be located at 937 N. Fairfax in West Hollywood, is a novel approach to senior living.  Named in honor of ALA’s founder, the Center will help low-income and formerly homeless seniors age in place while enriching the local community by providing a socially and environmentally sustainable living environment.   Construction on this state-of-the-art facility is expected to begin on February 11, 2013.

The Ahmanson Foundation serves Los Angeles County by funding cultural projects in the arts and humanities, education at all levels, health care, programs related to homelessness and underserved populations as well as a wide range of human services.  By supporting non-profit organizations that demonstrate sound fiscal management, efficient operation, and program integrity, the Ahmanson Foundation strives to enhance the quality of life and cultural legacy of the Los Angeles community.
