As ALA’s President & CEO, David has spent more than two decades in leadership and advocacy roles to address housing and homelessness issues.
David is committed to expanding housing options and reducing isolation among seniors. Since joining the ALA team, he has effectively initiated Vision 2015 ALA’s five-year strategic plan. In 2013, the Annenberg Foundation selected David as one of 25 visionary leaders who inspire and motivate others toward achieving long-term change in their respective fields. In 2014, David led the completion of the Janet L. Witkin Center, a project to honor the founder's legacy and to support formerly homeless seniors in the City of West Hollywood.
Before ALA, David was President and CEO of LA Family Housing. At LA Family Housing David oversaw the development and provision of emergency, transitional, and permanent housing and social services at 21 facilities to more than 17,000 individuals annually. In 2006, former U.S. Secretary of HUD Henry Cisneros recruited David to launch American Sunrise Communities. This national initiative catalyzed developers, investment banks, and local governments to create large scale affordable housing in urban centers throughout the United States. David is co-founder and co-chair of the annual Mayoral Housing and Transportation Summit. Prior to his public service positions David worked as an attorney specializing in litigation and employment law.
